Today’s trip will take us to the delightful Riverside town of Richmond Upon Thames, which has long been a favourite retreat for Royalty and the rich and famous, including King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I and King George III.      

Richmond boasts the longest stretch of the River Thames which runs for over 10 miles through the borough, linking Hampton Court Palace, Richmond Town Centre and Kew Gardens with London. There will be time before the matinee performance to have lunch and enjoy a riverside walk along the Thames .    

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins separated at birth, who grow up on the opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences.

The Battle Proms picnic concert takes place in the Queen Elizabeth Oak Field in the leafy Hatfield Park. Legend has it that it was beneath one of the ancient oaks in this field that the young Queen Elizabeth I heard that she was to be Queen of England.  

Famous for their a breathtaking mix of uplifting music and dramatic displays, including fireworks, Spitfire, cannons, cavalry and parachutes, the Battle Proms has been wowing audiences in their thousands in Hatfield Park each year.

Matthew Bourne’s award-winning The Car Man is back ! Loosely based on Bizet’s ever-popular opera, The Car Man has one of the most thrilling and instantly recognisable scores in New Adventures’ repertoire.  

The familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory becomes a greasy 1950s garage-diner in the American Mid-West where the dreams and passions of a small-town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome and enigmatic stranger. Fuelled by heat and desire, the inhabitants are driven into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge.  

Matthew Bourne’s vivid storytelling combines with one of the most passionately dramatic scores ever written, with music by Terry Davies featuring Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet’s Carmen), to create a dance thriller like no other.
