After a morning departure from the Essex area, we make our way to the Award Winning Blists Hill Victorian Town. Travel back in time to the 1900’s, take a glimpse into the past and discover what it was like to live and work a traditional Victorian life. Here the Victorian costumed characters are going about their daily life, providing a recreation of a Victorian Town which uses token pounds, shillings and pence for its transactions !
Everything is authentic, including household ornaments and the piano in the pub ! Visit Victorian shops and cottages, meet craftspeople demonstrating their trades and taste authentic food in Blist Hill’s recreated working town.

Our 4* hotel is on the outskirts of Nottingham, being a perfect location for our included excursions, but also giving you the opportunity to relax in the luxurious surroundings of the hotel.
Day 1- Arrival day
After a morning departure from the Essex area , we shall head Northwards – stopping en route at the delightful Lincolnshire town of Stamford.
Stamford’s narrow alleyways and hidden courtyards are home to a variety of speciality shops, fine jewellers and designer boutiques, whilst the High Street has a great choice of independent and recognised retailers. When it’s time to eat you’ll be spoilt for choice, as the town has a reputation for good food. Head to a cosy cafe and watch the world go by over a cup of tea, or enjoy the surroundings of the many traditional inns serving home cooked fayre.
We shall check into the hotel late afternoon, where you will be welcomed with tea, coffee and cake in the lounge. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy the leisure facilities at the hotel.

The ancient City is a breath-taking experience with each chapter of Chester’s history etched into the very fabric of the city. Walk where Roman Legionnaires marched to war, Viking raiders wreaked havoc and Norman invaders conquered Anglo Saxons.
Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Ampitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe’s finest example of medieval carvings – and of course the one and only 700 year old Rows galleries where shopping is a double delight. There will be free time to explore Chester before we make our way to the 4* Queen at Chester hotel. Once settled in, you will be welcomed with a glass of prosecco before enjoying a 3 course evening meal (with a Valentines theme !) A musical duo will entertain you on stage during the evening.
After breakfast on Monday morning, we shall make our way Southwards to Dudley, home of the Black Country Museum where you can experience over 250 years of history, from the Industrial Revolution to post war prosperity.
