Summer’s Day in Thorpeness & Aldeburgh
Sunday 26th July 2026
£37.50 Per Person
Join us on this delightful day out to the Suffolk Coast !
The small village of Thorpeness is dominated by the Meare, which is open all year round and bears witness to the village’s fantastical past. Thorpeness was the dream of wealthy Scottish barrister Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie. Originally a fishing hamlet called Thorpe in what would later be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it was seen by Ogilvie as the perfect place to create an adult playground for his family and friends. Once complete, he renamed it Thorpeness to distinguish it from all the other Thorpes in East Anglia, and one of the most unique villages in the country was born.
Today the village is just how Ogilvie envisaged it with pretty mock Tudor houses and the fairy-tale ‘House in the Clouds’. With Peter Pan islands, boats in every shade of the rainbow, and plenty of secrets to uncover, Thorpeness Meare is the centrepiece of this fantastic village on the Suffolk coast.

Saturday 12th September 2026
£35 per person
Join us for a day of Music, Tradition, Fun and Flavour celebrating the mighty oyster and everything that makes the coastal town of Whitstable so unique. Steeped in maritime history and community spirit, Whitstable is the perfect place to eat, dance and explore – and of course, celebrate oysters ! Whitstable’s love affair with oysters goes way back – all the way to the Roman Empire, when Julius Caesar’s soldiers developed a taste for Kent’s finest molluscs.
The iconic, historic ceremony of the Landing of the Oysters is the soul of the Whitstable Rocks Oyster Festival – a tradition dating back to 1657. Local fishermen and sailors bring in the first symbolic catch of oysters and ceremonially land them on the beach. A Blessing of the Sea follows – a timeless ritual of giving thanks and asking for the ocean’s continued bounty. This is accompanied by the Whitstable Sea Scouts & Brass Band & Samba Pelo Mar leading a vibrant community procession to East Quay.
